Lucie Kim’s project “Kontinuum” is a cycle in three
parts: anticipation, manifestation, and reflection. The film, created with Felix von der Weppen, is a compillation of images culled from a dancer’s sweeping actions, recordings of her marks which she repeatedly makes and erases. As soon as she arrives at a mark, it turns into history, and we become increasingly aware of the basic nature of time and material at the human scale and beyond. Pitirm Sorokin’s Cyclical Theory comes to mind as does Heidegger’s Eternal Return. A book of images documenting the project will also be available
at the gallery. Opening December 11th, 2014 at patrickparrish.com
